pAccording to a memo given to department heads at the Boston Public Library (BPL) last week, it appears that the a href=http://clk.about.com/?zi=1/1hc#038;zu=http://www.bpl.org/research/microtext/Microtext Department and Newspaper Room/a is in danger of being closed, and its 2,000,000+ rolls of microfilm and microfiche, and other resources distributed to other locations within and outside of the Central Library. In addition, Library president Amy Ryan's proposal for the a href=http://clk.about.com/?zi=1/1hc#038;zu=http://www.boston.com/ae/books/articles/2010/04/12/public_library_needs_private_help/elimination of 69 jobs/a at the central library in Copley Square and administrative offices accepted by the board last Friday, apparently a href=http://clk.about.com/?zi=1/1hc#038;zu=http://archiver.rootsweb.ancestry.com/th/read/MASSGENCOUNCIL/2010-04/1271710330include the employees overseeing the statewide Massachusetts Newspaper Program/a.
